Research Jam

The fifth edition of the Healthcare & Technology Research Jam will bring together scholars and practitioners from around the world, united by a shared interest in the technological, professional, and organizational dynamics of healthcare.

(VU Amsterdam), Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Healthcare & Technology Research Jams aim to bring together scholars from diverse backgrounds who share an interest in advancing the understanding of technological, professional and organizational dynamics in healthcare. From an informal gathering, the Jam has evolved into an inspiring interdisciplinary community with longstanding and new members regularly sharing their work and supporting each other through candid and constructive discussions. Previous annual gatherings were held at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2022), King’s College London (2023), Bocconi University in Milan (2024), and the Edinburgh Business School (2025).

This year the theme is  “Crossing boundaries in healthcare research, theory and practice.” The presented studies will explore, for example, how practices cross technological boundaries, how technologies spur professionals to cross their jurisdiction or expertise boundaries, or how (re)organizing healthcare practices reconfigure interactions and relations across spatial, temporal, and digital contexts.

The two days of dialogue are powerful tool to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration in ensuring that technological advances translate into meaningful societal benefits.
